Wednesday saw a vote passed unanimously by the Atlantic City council that would see a ban of all smoking in A.C. casinos.

The ordinance would only allow people to smoke in those specially built smoking rooms of death. You know the kind, they look like slow-acting gas chambers. No smoking would be allowed on the gaming floors.

Casinos are understandably upset as they claim that many patrons are smokers. Their calls for pity were heard and a compromise was reached between council members and casino officials. The full smoking ban, which was to take effect 90 days after being signed into law, has been delayed with a new deadline of Oct. 15, 2008. This will allow th casinos extra time to build their smoky gas chambers.

"We're going to be compliant and do whatever we need to do to be compliant," said Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. chief executive officer Mark Juliano in a statement and before bursting into tears*.

The mayor of Atlantic City, Scott Evans, still has to sign the bill into law before it’s enforeced but since Evans has publicly said that he is sick of smokers, it’s pretty much a done deal.
