As involved as the plot of the movie was, today’s casino security systems are far too elaborate to successfully rob. In the movie, the team had so much information on the security system of the casino that they would have to have the head of casino security on the team with them just to plan it.

Beyond constant supervision of the entire casino property, modern casino security systems have numerous layers of failover. Casino vaults are not easy to get to, and a group of thieves would have to be an exceptional collection of expert soldiers and engineers. Those types of people aren’t thieves; they’re professionals who earn their money, they don’t steal it. The movie is popular because it offers people something they’ve never been able to do, beat the house.
