Australian casino mogul James Packer is the second richest man in Australia and, until recently, the richest man in the entire Church of Scientology.

Packer has apparently left the church possibly due to it’s inherent conflict with Packer’s business – L. Ron Hubbard, the church’s founder, wasn’t very big on gambling. Presumably he didn’t buy insurance the either.

Packer, who had been brought into the fold by the Church’s most famous nutjob member, Tom Cruise, is the son of the late billionaire media mogul Kerry Packer.

He has his hands in land based casinos in Australia and Macau as well as online casinos.
