Well that was a bust. Thousands of people allegedly signed up for the "Fire David Letterman" rally that was held yesterday afternoon outside the Ed Sullivan Theater, but media reports put the final tally at around 15 protesters. Wow. Looks like Dave gets the last laugh after all.
Granted, Letterman did apologize twice to Sarah Palin and she has since accepted the apology. And the moral of this story is…no more Alex Rodriguez jokes.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre paid Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien (a Boston Red Sox fan) a visit the other night and had this to say about suspended ballplayer Manny Ramirez (who, btw, is set to return on July 3):
"People like to pass judgment. And nobody is condoning the use of steroids in sports because it's a bad message to send the kids. But the thing about it, when you have a relationship with players, they're people. And I really felt bad for Manny because he was so embarrassed by this whole thing — which he should be — and he just is still in that state, basically."
