Today the presidential hopefuls will put their differences aside to pay respect to those who lost their lives and loved ones in the 9/11 attacks. Both John McCain and Barack Obama are scheduled to arrive at ground zero today while President Bush and Laura Bush marked the 9/11 seventh anniversary with a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House. The president was then heading to the Pentagon memorial.
The ceremony at ground zero included moments of silence at 8:46 a.m. and 9:03 a.m., marking the times that two hijacked jets slammed into the World Trade Center's twin towers.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg opened his speech by saying, "Today marks the seventh anniversay of the day our world was broken."
