Known for his role as Haziz, one of star Steve Carell's co-workers in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, actor Shelley Malil was arrested yesterday for brutally attacking his ex-girlfriend with a knife.

The woman was stabbed more than 20 times and is currently listed in critical condition. A neighbor intervened and jumped Malil, but he escaped. The victim's two children were home at the time of the attack.

Malil's family worked with police to apprehend Malil, who had fled via Amtrack. Apparently, he was on his way to his lawyer's office when he was caught at a train station in Oceanside, California. Malil was arrested for attempted murder, mayhem and burglary.

Malil has appeared in Budweiser commercials as well as dozens of TV shows including NYPD Blue and Scrubs.
