American Idol Breaks Hearts in Hollywood Week

An eerily made-up Ryan Seacrest started the show by telling us that Hollywood week would be like none other. He added, "It will be a blood bath." Wow. That serious?
The first contestant was Philadelphia's Brooke White, who admitted to never seeing an R-rated movie.
"If I'm being completely honest about my biggest obstacle, it's confidence," Brooke said before taking the stage.
This year, the contestants are aloud to play instruments and Brooke played the piano and sang "Beautiful."
"I think you've got great, great potential," Simon Cowell told the smiling Brooke. This meant, Brooke got a free ride to the final day of Hollywood week.
Lorena Pinot had a terrible audition which Simon called, "terribly uncomfortable… it's like when your mother gets drunk."
However, all was not lost for Lorena, who would get another chance to impress the judges in the second round.
Ghalib Emachai was a womanizer who sang that cheesy Bryan Adams Robin Hood song, which Simon rightfully said was, "Incredibly corny."
Josiah Leming a so-so singer who got a sympathy ticket to Hollywood because he lived in his car, proved that the American Dream can sometimes lie to everyone. He warbled badly and for some reason, the judges dug it. It's got to be his sob story right? He earned a free pass straight to the final round.
Twenty-five-year-old David Cook also sang that crappy Bryan Adams song, but it sounded better than Ghalib's version. The lecherous Paula Abdulcalled his performance "soothing." Gah, creepy.
Wannbe politician Kyle Ensley was not a big hit and caused a bit of a fight between softy Paula and the blunt Simon Cowell.
"You have an amazing spirit," Paula told Kyle after his less-than-appealing performance.
"I can't take this anymore. I've had it. Had it, had it, had it," Cowell said as he tore of his mic and walked out.
The drama of Hollywood week continues tomorrow. Be sure to place your American Idol bets before the show.
