'American Idol' Kids Tackle Lennon-McCartney Songs

American Idol execs coughed up the big bucks by getting Lennon-McCartney songs. Yoko Ono's rich, biatch! Heather Mills will also be sure to snag her piece of the pie in the upcoming divorce settlement.
Standouts included Jason Castro, who sang "If I Fell," Carly Smithson's rendition of "Come Together" and David Cook's "Eleanor Rigby." Brooke White sang "Let it Be" and the judges ate it up.
David Hernandez told us in pre-interviews talks about his job at a pizza place. Is that what they're calling it these days? His song for the evening is "I Saw Her Standing There" and it really made The Beat actually dislike the Beatles for a moment. Tragic, we know. Randy says, "For me, it was a little too overdone, so I was a little lost from the jump," while Simon said, "I thought it was corny verging on desperate."
Amanda Overmyer dressed in her best Beetle Juice outfit and sang "You Can't Do That." Paula and Randy were blown away while Simon didn't think it was as good as last week. He then told Paula to shut-up. Australian hunk Michael Johns sang "Across the Universe" and it was boring.
Kristy Lee Cook made the tragic mistake of singing "Eight Days a Week" with a country twist. It was so awful, it was almost comical. Simon said, "I thought it was horrendous. You sounded like Dolly Parton on helium."
Poor David Archuleta had a lot of pressure, being name favorite to win in the Bodog Sportsbook and all. He said he wasn't that familiar with the songs of Lennon-McCartney — because c'mon — the poor kid's barely out of diapers. He sang a mediocre rendition of "We Can Work it Out" and yes, in an American Idol tragic cliche, the dude forgot the words.
