Idol fever is back - and over 10,000 wannabes in Phoenix, Arizona came down with the deadly disease. And yes, they were showing all the scary symptoms: desperation, delusion and bad pitch.

Low-lights included a chick in a bikini. Yes, a bikini. Twenty-year-old Katrina Darrell actually didn't have a bad set of pipes, but even though she delivered a so-so rendition of A Vision of Love, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell gave her an immediate pass, while judge Kara DioGuardi vehemently disagreed. She then basically engaged in a sing-off against Darrell.

"I think it's been successful," Darrell said of her outfit. "It's gotten me some attention."

Upon earning a ticket to Vegas, Darrell walked outside and kissed Ryan Seacrest on the lips.

Highlights included Michael Sarver, who works on an oil rig and has the fifth most dangerous job in America in order to support his family. Sarver blew the judges away with his surprising voice.

"Goodbye oil field; hello Hollywood," Sarver said as he walked away with a ticket.

Nerdy 19-year-old Alex Wagner-Trugman relayed the story of how he used to sing in his closet but the closet had mold and he fell ill. After a strange rendition of Baby Come to Me, he was put through, much to Simon's chagrin.

Twenty-three-year-old Scott Macintyre is vision impaired. He is a classically trained pianist and graduated college at 19-years-old. He sweetly sang And So It Goes by Billy Joel and was put through to Hollywood. Seacrest awkwardly tried to high-five Macintyre when he came out holding a golden ticket. Seacrest quickly realized Macintyre couldn't see and he was left hanging.

So 27 singers got through in Phoenix, and tomorrow night, they head to Kansas City. Check out all the American Idol drama on Fox at 8 p.m.
