Last night American Idol judges announced their eight wild-card picks who will be whittled down to three by fans. The wild-card gives those who royally effed up their one shot at being on the show, one more chance.
"If we didn't have a wild-card pick they wouldn't have made it," Simon Cowell said. "Certain people we think made stupid song choices, or they were just in a tough group, so we totally, totally support this system. I think it's fair, and it gives somebody, a few people, a second shot. And you know what? One of these wild-card picks could actually win this show."
Most of those chosen were the best of the bunch – aside from bi-polar drama queen, Tatiana Del Toro, whose craziness took away from her talent. And in typical Del Toro fashion, she burst into tears upon getting the news, blubbering, "I want this so much, and this means so much to me, and I worked so hard to be here." Groan.
In good news, Bodog Beat favorites Anoop Dawg Desai and Megan Corkrey were among those chosen.
Von Smith, who had been eliminated just one segment earlier, was selected. The young and commercial Jasmine Murray was chosen, who judge Kara DioGuardi warned had to "kill" with her vocals this time around. Ricky Braddy, who was overlooked by voters during the first round, was also given a second chance.
Matt Giraud was picked along with what the judges call a "last-minute selection," the blusey Jesse Langseth. What do you think? Was Del Toro picked just for added drama?
