The newest issue of US Weekly magazine is reporting that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's fraternal twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were conceived through in vitro fertilization.

According to the magazine, the Jolie-Pitts were so desperate to quickly have more kids that they decided to turn to fertility treatments in order to conceive a set of twins.

"They conceived through in vitro fertilization," a source told US. "They both desperately wanted more babies soon."

Dr. Arthur Wisot of Los Angeles' Reproductive Medical Group confirms to US that the chances of naturally having fraternal twins at Jolie's age (33) is less than 1 percent, while chances of conceiving twins while using in vitro are 25 percent. "We live in an era of reproductive freedom, so anybody can do anything they want within legal limits," Wisot said.

The Jolie-Pitt source continued that the actress decided to try in vitro so "she wouldn't have to deal with the stress of trying to get pregnant. She could just knock it out… They were too impatient."

Jolie has previously spoken to Elle U.K. of her plan on spawning a large brood. "If you're going to have 10 kids, we'd like to raise them while we're young."
