Anne Hathaway's shady ex is blaming her for defrauding investors out of millions of dollars - because, he claims, it was the only way he could keep up with her extravagant lifestyle. Raffaello Follieri is apparently attempting to get a lighter sentence by pleading with the judge. And his defense? Well, it pretty much sucks donkey dong.
According to papers submitted to a Manhattan federal court Tuesday by his lawyer, Follieri "became intoxicated with it all" after living amongst A-listers and celebrities like his girlfriend, Hathaway.
The AP reports that lacking the resources to live their opulent lifestyle, he then began misusing other people's money, his lawyer says.
In the documents, his lawyer wrote that Follieri was, "surrounded by movie stars and celebrities and this young man who neither drinks nor smokes became intoxicated with it all."
Poor Raffaello! Everyone knows that when you "become intoxicated" with opulent lifestyles it's okay to steal money. Free Raffaello!
