Newlyweds Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz confirmed today that Ashlee was indeed pregnant after months of speculation.

"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child," the couple wrote on Wentz' site friendsorenemies.com. "This is truly the most joyous time in our lvies and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."

Perhaps the couple wanted to wait until after their secret shot-gun wedding to confirm the news? Who really wants to say that they're having Pete Wentz's bastard child?

Ashlee, who now goes by Ashlee Wentz and professionally goes by "Ashlee Simpson-Wentz," told People magazine, "I would love to have a big family one day."
