Barbara Walters is breaking the silence over an affair she had with U.S. Senator Edward Brooke in the 1970s, reports People magazine. Walters revealed her affair with the Rupublican from Massachusetts in an interview with Oprah Winfrey set to air on Tuesday, May 6.
"I was certainly infatuated," Walters told Oprah of her multi-year affair. "It was exciting times in Washington."
However, Walters admits that she kept her mouth shut all these years in fear that it would ruin her career. "This is going to come out," Walters recounts saying to a friend. "This is going to ruin your career… This is going to ruin him. You've got to break this off."
