Apparently, Bono doesn't like Chris Martin from Coldplay and let listeners know during a radio spot on BBC Radio. The Daily Mail reports that Bono's appearance was part of a series of special shows and appearances prior to the band's new music release. Critics said the BBC was acting like a publicity machine for the band and that they basically gave U2 millions in free publicity.

Then, after the DJ played a Coldplay track ahead of the band's arrival in the studio, Bono ripped Chris Martin a new one. When the DJ asked Bono if he thought that Martin was as talented as Paul McCartney, Bono said, "I think he's that good a melodist, but he's a wanker. He's obviously a completely dysfunctional character and a cretin."

Bono was forced to apologize and he offered, "I think they [Coldplay] are a great band and actually, it turns out he’s a great soul as well. Sorry about that. I was just joking entirely."

Apparently, Bono is displeased with fans calling Coldplay "The New U2." U2's new album No Line On The Horizon will be released on March 2.
