Brokeback Mountain is headed for the stage. New York City Opera House has commissioned composer Charles Wuorinen to write an Opera based on Annie Proulx's short story turned Oscar-winning film.
"Ever since encountering Annie Proulx's extraordinary story I have wanted to make an opera on it, and it gives me great joy that Gerard Mortier and New York City Opera have given me the opportunity to do so," Wuorinen said in a statement.
We at Bodog Beat are hoping the stage version of the story will fill all the plot holes the movie had that were overlooked by critics. For example, even though Michelle Williams' character saw her husband, Ennis, making out with his BFF, Jack, she cited the reason she was tipped off about their affair was because they never caught any fish on their fishing trips. Yes ladies and gents, they were fucking the entire time (no time for fishing, only fucking). There were other plot holes, but that one was the funniest.
