The women of country nabbed all the top awards at the 2009 Academy of Country Music Awards. Carrie Underwood stunned the crowd when she performed in this lavish burgundy dress then captured the coveted entertainer of the year and top female vocalist. Taylor Swift won album of the year and Julianne Hough snagged top new artist.
The entertainer of the year award had been given to Kenny Chesney for the past four years and a woman hadn't won the award since the Dixie Chicks in 2000. Showing good spirit, Chesney kissed Underwood as she walked up to the stage.
"I accepted that award on behalf of myself and my fans, but also on behalf of other women who came before me that kicked butt but never got the recognition they deserved," Underwood said.
"I can't wait [for] the day, which I hope is in the very near future, where having females in the category is no big deal whatsoever."
Album of the year winner Taylor Swift also also got a special honor. Reba McEntire presented Swift with an ACM Crystal Milestone Award for bringing so many young people to country music.

the dress is a pretty color but there is way too much fabric…….it is overkill.

Carrie looked amazing as always. Such a cool outfit for a simple song.
