Although the film opens in theaters this Friday, Dec. 21, the A-listers were first to check it out at the premiere in New York this weekend.
Laying low since the "DaVinci Code" bomb, Tom Hanks chose wisely for his next flick along with Julia Roberts, who also came out of hibernation after her play "Three Days of Rain" failed to impress critics.
Hanks showed up at the New York City premiere Sunday night dressed in a slick three-piece suit. Network anchors including Dan Rather, Diane Sawyer, and Robin Roberts came to see the movie, which was based on a book written by the late "60 Minutes" producer George Crile.
"Charlie Wilson's War" is the true story of how a playboy congressman (Tom Hanks), a renegade CIA agent (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) and a Houston socialite (Julia Roberts) joined forces to lead the largest and most successful covert operation in history.
