The season is off to a fast start for Dancing with the Stars, which was the ratings winner on Monday night, drawing an average of 18.3 million viewers during the premiere of its fifth season. What that means for Josie Maran is a lot of people didn't like her performance.

Maran is a 29-year-old model who was derided for her opening-night performance and on Wednesday she became the first star ousted from the competition. Worse, she and dance partner Alec Mazo couldn't beat out Mark Cuban, the strange and hairy owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and his dance partner.

With this being the first week of the show, the dramatics of the results show hasn't started to build. The real highlights on Wednesday was provided by Savion Glover, who brought in the funk to what was an otherwise bland show (how else can you explain Marie Osmond lasting longer than a model?),

With Maran gone, the competition is down to 11 couples. The next episode is Monday night at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. Maran was a long shot to win the show. One of the favorites, boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., was among the lowest finishers and that could change the Dancing with the Stars odds for next week. Currently, Mayweather and Spice Girl Melanie Brown are co-favorites with 4/1 odds each.
