Danny Wows in Final Four of So You Think You Can Dance
The only times we at the Beat have ever gone about critiquing dance routines is when a pole was involved in the act. And to be truthful, we weren't ever really paying attention to the pole, or to the footwork, or the choreography, or the music, or the pain in our necks as we gazed up from sniffer's row.
So watching So You Think You Can Dance each week has been a challenge for us. But after Wednesday night's performance show, we feel we've finally got it.
Of the four remaining contestants for the $250,000 grand prize on the Fox reality TV program, one stands out. It's the funny thing about great artwork – even if you know jack about it most of us can recognize when something's good. Danny Tidwell is holler-out-loud good. We couldn't really tell you why except he makes the waltz worth watching and that's got to mean something.
Nigel Lythgoe, who's the best damn British critic on television, raved about Tidwell's performances on Wednesday, saying he's among the two best dancers the series has ever featured. That doesn't mean Tidwell (pictured) will win, though. The nation decides in a round of voting.
Tidwell is up against Neil Haskell, Lacey Schwimmer and Sabra Johnson for the title of America's favorite dancer. If you like Tidwell's chances, you can vote for him with your wallet by placing a bet on the Bodog Sportsbook's So You Can Think You Can Dance odds. The finale of So You Think You Can Dance is Thursday night, when the results of the telephone and text voting will be known.
