Dennis Quaid went to Kim Kardashian's birthday party and put away some cocktails before getting behind the wheel. He was in the driver's seat with the engine running when a cop pulled up next to him and advised him not to drive. The decision to arrest DUI offenders is at the officer's discretion.

According to TMZ, police repeatedly told the actor, "Get out of the car." Quaid reportedly yelled back at the officer, "What do you want me to do?"

The cop let him off with a warning and Quaid, not realizing how lucky he just got, went with his wife and friend back inside the restaurant and came out later to catch a cab.

The paparazzi reportedly yelled at him, "You don't want a DUI. You don't want to end up like Mel Gibson."

Dennis reportedly laughed before getting into the cab. He probably awoke this morning with vague recollections of getting in the car while camera flashes nabbed pictures like this one and knew TMZ would have the ugly story. Sucks to be a celebrity. Well, an irresponsible celebrity.
