The View was once again the source for controversy when Elisabeth Hasselbeck was reduced to tears after she was served a verbal smackdown by co-host, Whoopi Goldberg.
The debate started over Jesse Jackson's use of the "N" word and Hasselbeck questioned why the word could be used by blacks, but not by whites.
Goldberg pointed out that Hasselback, who is half-Italian would have every right to make Italian jokes, as she was raised in a home where those sort of comments were likely part of her own personal family history.
Hasselback argued, “We don’t live in different worlds, we live in the same world," to which Whoopi Goldberg promptly responded, “We do live in different worlds. I’m sorry. That’s the way it is."
Hasselbeck then tearfully said, "When we live in a world where pop culture uses that term, and we’re trying to reach a place where we feel like we’re in the same place, where we feel like we’re in the same world, how are we supposed to them move forward if we keep using terms that bring back that pain?"
