Fire David Letterman Rally Set for Tuesday

David Letterman

Have you been following this story at all? Last Tuesday CBS Late Show host David Letterman fired off a joke about Sarah Palin, following a visit to New York and a Yankee game that she attended with Rudy Giuliani.

"One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game," Letterman said, "during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."

When Palin caught wind of the joke she immediately fired back at Letterman, going on the Today show the following day to lambast the comedian for saying such crude things about her 14-year-old daughter.

The thing is, Letterman's joke was intended for Palin's 18-year-old daughter, Bristol, who was impregnated by her then-boyfriend Levi Johnston. Dave had no idea that it was the younger of the two that accompanied her political mom to the baseball game.

Nonetheless, Letterman has since apologized for his remark, saying: "I would never make jokes about someone having sex with a 14-year-old girl."

Too little, too late?

Several politicians think Dave has crossed the line this time and are asking CBS to fire his ass.

"Firing Mr. Letterman would send a clear message that CBS will not tolerate any of its employees even an established media figure like Mr. Letterman making demeaning and degrading comments about women," wrote Brian Kolb, a Republican from the Western New York state district of Canandaigua, in a letter to CBS chief Les Moonves.

And to make matters worse, a website called FireDavidLetterman.com has been set up to attract other like-minded folks who are just besides themselves over this whole debacle. The rally is set for 4:30 pm EDT at the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway in Manhattan.

Has this gone too far? Do you think David Letterman should get fired over this? It's not likely that he will, but it does make for some serious publicity.

What Letterman said is far more inocuous than what Howard Cosel said to be completely ruined for life. The same should happen to Letterman. I noticed that above the totally bogus, half hearted attempt at an apology by Letterman is described as an apology. Then the related stories showing a collection of stories supporting same poisenous leftist attitude that motivated CBS and the writers and Letterman himself to say such vile things is the motivation of this web site also. Why can't we all just get along? The story and the way it is presented here is wrong. Just plain wrong. When wrong is tolerated to advance or defend and agenda, the agenda itself is corrupt and will never be anything else but corrupt.

It is a sad day in this country when the comments made by this old man david letterman are considered funny. We American can protest in our own way. I will not buy any product advertised on the CBS late night show. He continued to ridicule this young lady and her sister in a lame excuse for an apology. Only when CBS executives got serious with him, he then tried to apologize-too little , too late. I think he was forced into this apology.
