George Michael Takes in £1.7 Million for a Russian New Years Concert
With a little Patience comes MONEY!
How much would you say it costs to have the lamest singer come to perform for you and 250 of your closest friends for an hour? Before you answer that remember he is going to be performing amazing hits like Faith and I Want Your Sex! (Please note the sarcasm) Well if you are Russian Billionaire, Vladimir Potanin, it will cost you about £1.7 million ($3.3 million). That's what he paid singer George Michael for his private New Year Celebration about 20 miles outside of Moscow. Michael broke records and is now considered to be the highest paid recording artist for a single gig; with the sum of his performance working out to a cool 23,823 pounds per minute! Michael was flown out with his entourage on a private jet and hit the stage at 3:30am. The guests were treated to 13 of the singer's hits (I guess you could call them that) in rapid succession, ending at about 4:45am. Michael and his boyfriend, Kenny Goss, had enough time for a quick drink before heading back to London aboard their private flight at 6am.
Rumors are that Russians throw the most extravagant New Year's parties…huh? That rumor was just settled for me right there. If you mean extravagant to be most expensive than, sure, I believe that. But who pays that kind of money for George Michael? Obviously I'm not a fan, and I'm not bashing anyone that is…well, ya I guess I am. He's terrible I'm sorry. I mean if you want someone of his character than why not get Elton John up there. At least he's entertaining. Elton, by the way, is a close second with being paid £1.5 million for performing at Peter Shalson's wedding. Either way I have to hand it go George Michael, he's the one that made more in an hour than most families make in a life time! Way to go Mikey, you earned it!
