Fourteen years in making, the most expensive album to produce ($13 million and counting) has finally got a release date. Best Buy will exclusively be selling "Chinese Democracy" as of November 23.
Recently, Dr. Pepper offered to send a free can to "everyone in America" (excluding ex-members Slash and Buckethead) if "Chinese Democracy" were to arrive anytime during 2008. And, d'oh, looks like their ploy for free advertising backfired.
No word on how to claim your free Dr. Pepper – or whether it will just appear in your mailbox. Also, no word from Dr. Pepper execs. They're probably crapping their pants.
It's no secret that making "Chinese Democracy" has been a massive fucking headache for Axl Rose, who wrote in a 2006 online post, "To say the making of this album has been an unbearably long and incomprehensible journey would be an understatement."
