It has been a busy day for the folks over at Apple. Seems iPhone owners wanting the 3.0 upgrade are having on hell of a time downloading the new software. (Wikimedia Images)

Likely due to server overload, the new iPhone 3.0 upgrade is already causing numerous headaches.

Apple's iPhone operating system was in need of a major upgrade as countless customers have been asking for the addition of simple functions like multimedia messaging, copy and paste, as well as other software updates. So the company today released the iPhone 3.0 upgrade.

The iPhone 3.0 upgrade is free if you own the original iPhone or the iPhone 3G. But if you're an Pod Touch user you have to fork over $10 for the upgrade.

To upload, plug your iPhone into your computer with the USB dock connector and then load iTunes 8.2 (80MB), where you'll be able to download and install iPhone 3.0 (230MB).
