High School Musical Tops Box Office

In its debut weekend, High School Musical 3 ran away with top honors at the box office grossing well in excess of $40M.

Twenty-one-year-old Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens combine once again to deliver a family film fun for all ages, with 23-year-old Ashley Tisdale adding to the overaged teenager cast as Sharpay.

The busy weekend also featured another blockbuster film in its initial weekend. Saw V garnered $30.5M followed by Max Payne in a distant third at $7.6M.

With $6.92M, Beverly Hills Chihuahua placed fourth, bringing its theatre total to just under $80M.
