After taking a brief hiatus from the movie biz, Jim Carrey is back and once again sweeping the box office by playing a bank officer who decides to say "yes" to everything after attending a self-help seminar. Although movies didn't do so well this weekend due to heavy storms across the country, Carrey earned the box office win with his new comedy Yes Man, beating out Will Smith's Seven Pounds, which earned dismal reviews, by over $2 million.
With a 45% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the critic's consensus is that although the plot lacked in creativity, Carrey carried the flick with his comedic chops.
The Tale of Despereaux opened at No. 3, pretty good for a mouse cartoon, while The Day the Earth Stood Still came in fourth.
