As a fitting tribute to Michael Jackson, we here at the Beat would like to kick off a movement to bring back M.J.'s "moonwalk" dance. Now, a lot of you may think you know how to do it — and for some of you it has probably been ages since you last embarrassed your date on the dance floor trying to slide this move into your repetoire — so it's best to start from the beginning.

First, you'll want to dress the part. Throw on a white T-shirt, a pair of black pants, some white socks and a pair of black loafers. Then, make sure you've got a Michael Jackson classic ready to go on your iPod (Billy Jean works best) and an empty (preferably slick) floor, at least 10 feet x 10 feet in size. Give or take. Now hit play and get a feel for the music by letting your body move to the rhythm. Feel it? Nice. Okay…

The Moonwalk in Six Easy Steps – to Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean"

Step 1: Start with your feet together.

Step 2: Raise your right heel so that you're standing on the ball of your right foot.

Step 3: Shift your weight onto that still raised right foot so that the left one feels weightless.

Step 4: Lower your right heel slowly while moving your (still weightless) left foot backward until the toes of your left foot are aligned with the heel of your right foot. If you do it right, it should look like your left foot is floating backward across the floor.

Step 5: Lift your left heel and shift your body weight so that you're now standing on the ball of that foot.

Step 6: Repeat steps 4 and 5, this time with the opposite feet.
