Natasha Richardson suffered a severe brain injury after being involved in a bizarre skiing accident yesterday.

The 45-year-old actress, who has been married to actor Liam Neeson since 1994, was on a beginner run at Quebec, Canada's Mont Tremblant ski resort. TMZ reports that during a ski lesson, Richardson fell, but did not hit anything, and tumbled down the slope. When ski patrollers got to her she was conscious and making jokes.

Mont Tremblant ski resort has reported that Natasha had "no external sign of injury, no cut or bleeding" and was "laughing and joking and she walked to her room on her own" after her spill.

One hour later, Richardson complained of a headache and was taken to a nearby hospital. She was transferred to the intensive care unit at the Sacré Coeur Hospital in Montreal. Neeson reportedly is by her side and her condition is reportedly serious.
