Lindsay Lohan's 'Georgia Rule' Panned by Critics
With an embarassing $5.8 million during its debut box office this past weekend, what has Lindsay Lohan done for entertainment lately? (Courtesy Universal)
Georgia Rule, Lindsay Lohan's latest film (also starring Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman) has gotten more press for Lindsay's off-screen behavior than her on-screen acting chops. Lohan, who barely showed up for Georgia Rule filming due to "heat exhaustion" found herself trying to fend off harsh claims by Morgan Creek Productions CEO James G. Robinson who claimed the real reason behind Lohan's ill behavior on the set could be attributed to her partying.
In Georgia Rule, Lohan plays Rachel an uncontrollable, alcoholic teen — not much of a stretch there. Lohan's difficulties on-set were apparent on-screen. From her raspy, boozy voice to her tired complexion, Lohan actually looked like a girl who had thrown back a pitcher of margaritas the night before. Hey, man. She was getting into character. Although the story begged for the audience to sympathize with her, it was impossible to do so.
Rottentomatoes.com agreed, awarding Georgia Rule a 20% approval rating, with Liam Lacey from The Globe and Mail quipping, "Not to excuse her apparent lack of professionalism, but can you blame Lohan for showing up to work in bad shape?"
The fact is, Lindsay Lohan has talent but may be losing her audience. What parent wants their kid going to her PG-rated films when she has coke-snorting videos circulating the web? Her jump to the "R" rating genre may be what she needs, as it is safe to say, Lohan has successfully burned her PG bridges.
