Madonna and Guy Ritchie to divorce? We are all wearing our surprised faces. (AP Images)

With rumors of an affair with A-Rod and Guy Ritchie being MIA recently, it is not shocking to anyone that news that Madonna and Guy plan to divorce isn't shocking. The statement released by Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, asked the media to "maintain respect for their family at this difficult time."

The pair are reportedly worth $525 million, most of which was earned by Madonna. Ritchie, who has directed Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Swept Away – which starred Madonna, and most recently, RocknRolla, is worth an estimated $35 million.

The couple will be heading to court to decide finances as well as begin the battle over custody. They have two children together: Rocco, 8, and David Banda, 3, who was adopted from Malawi in 2006. Madonna also has a 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes from a previous relationship with her personal trainer.

Madonna and Ritchie have been married for almost eight years. Ritchie is currently filming Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and flew back to England to break the news to his parents.
