Mel Gibson knows what it's like to be a media laughing-stock and has thus become a mentor to the infamous Britney Spears.

TMZ reports that Gibson and his family have reached out to Britney and began spending time with her. Spears and the Gibson clan were both at Romanov Restaurant and Lounge in L.A. last night, though they arrived and left separately to throw peeping paps off the scent. However, TMZ's eyewitnesses report that Britney and Mel "broke bread together."
