Mel Gibson's wife Robyn has filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences." The couple married back in 1980 before Mel had earned the giant fortune he has now and therefore there was no prenup. Under California law, in a divorce community property and earnings is divided 50/50.

Robyn has lawyered-up with Laura Wasser, who has handled divorces for Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie.

TMZ is reporting that the couple have had issues since Gibson's 2006 DUI arrest where he unleashed an anti-Semitic drunken tirade, and that there are rumors he is involved with another woman. Also, we at Bodog Beat have no idea what happened to this story, but it can't have been good for the old marriage.

Mel and his wife have 7 children together, with one, 10-year-old Tom being a minor, who Robyn seeks joint physical and legal custody of.
