Ten-year-old Shiloh Pepin, otherwise known as "Mermaid Girl" has passed away. Shiloh was born with her legs fused together. Doctors told her parents she would survive for only hours, maybe days. She had no colon or genital organs, and only one partially working kidney – a condition known as sirenomelia, or Mermaid Syndrome. Most children born with sirenomelia have their legs surgically separated, however Shiloh wasn't able to as vital blood vessels in her circulatory system would have been severed.

Shiloh appeared on Oprah to talk about her condition just one month ago. Shiloh was one of three known children in the world living with sirenomelia. She caught a cold at the beginning of October, that developed into full blown pneumonia and she was put on high potency antibiotics and ventilator, but sadly, she couldn’t survive.
