Miss USA Rachel Smith Falls and is Heckled at Miss Universe Pageant

Miss USA's Rachel Smith took a spill during the evening gown ceremony at the Miss Universe Pageant.

Filmed in Mexico, Rachel Smith was later booed during the interview portion of the show by an audience angry at U.S. immigration policy.

As Bodog Beat originally reported, Miss Japan, Riyo Mori walked away with the title of Miss Universe, while Miss USA's Rachel Smith walked away with a big dose of shame. But… now we've got the heckling video! After the fall, Smith recovered very well and immediately smiled and waved. However, during the interview segment, audience members could be heard heckling her. Smith, however did not let that affect her saying, "Buenas noches, Mexico. Muchas gracias."

The 22-year-old Clarksville, Tennessee native seemed to win the crowd over at that point. Today, Tennessee residents are proud of Smith for her handling of the fall and the following jeering she received from audience members.

Pageant spokeswoman Lark-Marie Anton said, "We believe it wasn't Rachel being booed but the USA and some of our policies as a country. The booing was unfortunate, but Rachel represented the USA with style and grace. She was extremely dignified."
