"This Is It," a new song by Michael Jackson, is scheduled to be released on Oct. 12th.  Two weeks later (Oct. 26th) a new two-disc set by the King of Pop will be released internationally, followed by an Oct. 27th North American release. According to the press release issued today by Sony Records, the double CD set will contain music inspired by the movie, "This Is It," which will hit theaters around the world on Oct. 28th.

"This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows – that Michael is one of God's greatest gifts," said John McClain, co-producer of the album.

Disc one will contain the original album masters of some of MJ's biggest hits, along with his new song, "This Is It." Disc two features previously unreleased versions of MJ's classics, as well as a spoken word poem entitled "Planet Earth." The set also comes with a 36-page booklet containing exclusive photos of Michael Jackson taken over the course of his career — right up until his last rehearsal at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

"This Is It" the movie will run for a limited two-week engagement and tickets for those shows will go on sale Sept. 27th.
