Annual music festival returns despite Hurricane Katrina's deep scars: April 28-30, May 5-7

new-orleans-jazz-fest.jpgFor the first time since Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival opens in New Orleans and this year's lineup is HUGE. Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews Band, Dr. John, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, and more are featured in what promises to be one of the most memorable events of the year.

The festival is back at its usual home, the New Orleans Fairground, but up until a couple of weeks ago it was still without electricity (Hurricane Katrina had caused extreme damage to the area). Over 100,000 advance tickets have already been sold, but the majority of tickets are expected to take place "at the door". In the past, the festival has generated up to $250 million in tourism dollars for New Orleans.
