Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama is set to announce his running mate by week's end, reports the Herald Tribune. And while Obama has not spoken of any favorite candidates, advisers say that his most obvious choices would be Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia and Senator Joseph Biden Jr. of Delaware.

And while Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas remain in the running, the Herald Tribune reports that Obama is most likely to make a relatively safe choice.

Obama has supposedly not informed the winner or losers of the coveted spot.

Meanwhile, Republican presidential candidate John McCain has reportedly been advised to make a more daring choice. Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Charlie Crist and Sarah Palin are the favorite in the Bodog Sportsbook to win the nomination.
