Turns out, there are new sins courtesy of Pope Benedict XVI. D'oh!

Asked what he believed were today’s “new sins,” Pope Benedict XVI told the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano that the greatest danger zone for the modern soul is bioethics — meaning, stem cell research is a big no no.

“[Within bioethics] there are areas where we absolutely must denounce some violations of the fundamental rights of human nature through experiments and genetic manipulation whose outcome is difficult to predict and control,” he said.

Another new sin recently unveiled is the "ecological" sin. God is now keeping tabs on our recycling bins. Double d'oh!

We're also assuming this guy is riding the expressway to Hell?

It sure is amazing how willing people are to ridicule the Pope and/or Catholic Church!

I posted on the same topic on my own blog. Maybe you could humor me and read it-and clear up the misconception you seem to have.

Do other people need to ridicule the catholic church? (lower case letters are intentional) A church that decrees 'the accumulation of excessive wealth' to be a sin, whilst occupying a vatican seat that literally drips with gold must surely be the acme of hypocrisy. I am sure, however, of its great concerns with regard to environmental damage, by its recent establishment of its own airline.

is nice for the pope to see things like this…7 new sins… hu? cool!
!now! why you being so rich do not do nothing to set the example? Do like Jesus, give everything you have to the poor. He did not have gold rings, a palace to live in,body guards or an private army. Jesus did not do or say many many things that rome do and did in the past. You know your time is close to the end, apocalypse will get to you rome!

"The original deadly sins — mortal sins that require absolution for the sinner to avoid hell — are pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed and sloth. They have been vividly portrayed in literature such as Dante's "The Inferno" since the Middle Ages."

If these are the base of our deadly sins; instead of tell us what we do to create the sin, why not explain to us what they mean…..

Does this mean we should start construction on that long-anticipated eighth layer?
