Well, another Shakespearian showmance is dead. And poor Bachelor Matt Grant's phone is probably ringing off the hook with "I told you so's."

Shayne Lamas, the 22-year-old L.A. actress and daughter of Renegade star Lorenzo Lamas, who once admitted her top five priorities fall in this order: cars, shoes, handbags, sunglasses and watches—and who once asked Matt if there are palm trees in London – won the "brilliant" heart of bachelor Matt Grant on ABC's hit show, The Bachelor.

Yes, America was stunned when Matt chose Shayne, the woman with the most red flags and least long-term potential, ignoring all the subtle warning signs: the borderline retarded questions ("Do they have palm trees in England?"), the spray tan, the melodrama. By ignoring these red flags, Matt inadvertently sentenced himself to a short-lived relationship with someone who was not his intellectual equal.

Matt was troubled by their cerebral differences on various occasions, at one point, even point-blank asking Shayne whether she knew anything about politics, a question she dodged with the assertion that she is intellectual, and then added, "Is that how you say that word?"

"We tried hard to make it work but we realized that we were both heading in different directions," the former couple said in a joint statement, People. "We truly care about each other and will remain close friends."
