Tina Fey earned an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her turn as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live, at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. The Creative Arts Emmys recognize technical and other achievements, before next weekend's main ceremony.

During her acceptance speech, Fey thanked SNL producer Lorne Michaels and her parents, "who are lifelong Republicans, for their patience."

Justin Timberlake won for his successful hosting gig on SNL, who wasn't at the ceremony to receive his trophy. This is worth a thousand awards in itself.

In the guest drama categories, Ellen Burstyn won an Emmy for appearing on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

"I always wanted one of these," Burstyn said, winning her first Emmy after being nominated five times.

Michael J. Fox took the Emmy for his memorable turn on Rescue Me. A&E’s Intervention won the reality program category and Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place took the top prize in children’s programming.
