Even though Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is currently dating singer Jessica Simpson, he apparently can't get over his ex, American Idol winner and country singer Carrie Underwood.

"We are both small town people doing very big things," Underwood revealed to September's issue of Allure magazine. "We relied on each other, dealing with fame. I don't know. The phone will ring and it'll be him, and I'll maybe not answer it."

As for why the pair split, "We didn't have a fight. No one cheated. It plain didn't work."

However, Underwood insists that her hit single "Before He Cheats" had nothing to do with Romo, but rather a guy she dated during her Northeastern State University days. "I don't want to name names, even though he probably deserves it," Underwood said. "But he fooled around. Oh yeah, and lied."

While Romo is with new gal pal Simpson, Underwood has since dated Gossip Girl's Chase Crawford but is now reportedly single.
