This season, America's Next Top Model presents a "twist" to the show: One of the 14 girls competing for the coveted title is transgender. Isis, a 22-year-old former receptionist reveals to US magazine, "My cards were dealt differently."

Isis is "a woman born physically male" from Prince George's County, Md. "I like to help people, but I'm here to follow my dreams," she told US.

Neil Giuliano, the president of GLAAD, says that the inclusion of Isis in Top Model is "an unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television.

"We applaud Tyra Banks and the CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible."

America's Next Top Model Cycle 11 premieres on the CW on Sept. 3.
