Tribute to Michael Jackson's Life, Legacy
![]() |
| Love him or hate him, Michael Jackson has accomplished more in his career than most musicians (if any) have done in their lifetime. And he's got the Guinness World Records to prove it. (AP Images) |
Michael Jackson – His Life
Michael Joseph Jackson (aka the "King of Pop" and "The Gloved One"), was born August 29th, 1958 in Gary, Indiana and was the youngest of seven children. Talented and full of spark, spunk and charisma from the get-go, Michael's professional career got off to an early start at age 11 as part of the "Jackson 5" and from then on it was a rollercoaster ride of huge ups and downs for the pop star — a thrilling ride to be sure.
Many of his fans will remember him not only for his music, but for his charitable nature; throughout his career Jackson donated countless hours and millions of dollars to over 39 different charities.
Among the records he currently holds, Jackson still has the Guinness World Record for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time." He's got 13 Grammy Awards, 13 number-one singles and record sales of over 750 million albums worldwide.
Michael Jackson – His Legacy
Besides creating unbelievably catchy tunes, Michael Jackson could dance. Dude could bust a move like no one else and we all tried to copy him — and failed miserably. And then there was that video. The video that created a buzz unlike any other video — then and now. (Watch the YouTube video of "Thriller" here.) But it's his music that will last forever…
Got to Be There (1972)
Ben (1972)
Music and Me (1973)
Forever, Michael (1975)
Off the Wall (1979)
Thriller (1982)
Bad (1987)
Dangerous (1991)
HIStory (1995)
Invincible (2001)
And so another Motown legend has passed on. Michael Jackson, dead at age 50. May he rest in peace.

Comment *"EVEN SUCH IS TIME WHICH TAKES IN TRUST OUR YOUTH, OUR JOYS AND PAYS US BUT WITH AGE AND DUST, WHO IN THE DARK AND SILENT GRAVE, WHEN WE HAVE WANDERED ALL OUR WAYS, SHUTS UP THE STORY OF YOUR DAYS AND FROM WHICH EARTH AND GRAVE DUST, THE LORD SHALL RAISE ME UP I TRUST" This poem was written by one good poet and it will serve for a good artist.Rest in peace Mike
Gloved One, Loved One
(For Michael Joseph Jackson)
My eyes are heavy, as I watch news footage of you gliding across the stage and gyrating your pelvis,
At this moment in time this is bigger than the Duke, man, this is bigger than Elvis!
Though you made your living with words, today there are no words to express
the way the world feels,
Right now there is no need to go into your discography because it
encompasses valleys and hills.
But where do I begin, should I start with your amazing solo career or should I
start with the Jackson 5,
When you were just a cute little boy,
On stage you were talented and outgoing,
Yet off stage you were introspective and coy,
In the 70's, you put the world into a trance with your ‘fro and bell bottomed jeans
as you did the robot,
Michael, you had everyone at your feet because when you danced and sang you gave all that you got!
Back in the day, I remember coming home from school putting your album on
These were the days before CD’s, MP3 players, and IPODS,
Goodness, listening to your music was Heaven sent directly from God.
You were a great admirer of the legendary James Brown,
It warmed my heart to see you at an award show holding his crown.
You ruled the 80's with a glittering iron glove,
Moon walking into the hearts of millions
Moving as gracefully and as freely as a dove.
Newborns coming into the world already know your name,
Ailing grandparents in their last days know the same.
You are Gary’s finest but the world dubbed you the ‘Gloved One’
Michael your legacy is HIStory, DESTINY, OFF THE WALL, INVINCIBLE,
BAD and most definitely a THRILLER.
You are the King of Pop the ‘Man In The Mirror!’
You ‘rocked our world’ for over 40 years,
You gave us such memorable songs as Who’s Lovin You, Gotta Be There,
Heart Break Hotel, Butterflies, PYT, Billie Jean, Earth Song, Can You Feel It,
Working Day And Night, The Girl Is Mine, Say, Say, Say, and we
‘Remember The Time’ you told us that ‘We Are The World’
And to ‘Ease on Down The Road.
Your music videos integrated and dominated MTV!
Your videos were also payed in heavy rotation on BET.
Back in the day we wore your buttons and donned white socks and penny
loafers,
And here we stand today in shock and sadness but we know your pain is over.
Michael, we miss you and though you said “Heaven Can Wait’, You Are Not
Alone and 'I Just Can’t Stop Loving Love You.'
You were a great humanitarian a sensitive human being
Who came to earth and completed your journey now you will have eternal rest
The world loves you ‘Gloved One’ but the Lord truly knows best.
WE LOVE YOU, MJ.
Micheal is a Legend and King of Pop. No one will or can ever replace him. He was so talented and as someone described on tv as 'God' like figure to his fans. When hearing the news that he has passed, just like everyone else I was gutted and am finding it hard to except. My heart goes out to his children and family. If I had my way I would be there outside his home just to find comfort and some how come to terms with what has happened. I guess everyone has their way of dealing with it but like most I would have liked to be there.
All I want to say is' Micheal we all love you and never will forget what you have done for the people you have helped in the World. May you rest in peace.
'H' p.s ( Micheal, one more thing before I say goodbye, no naughtyness up there with God. I mean throwing buckets of water etc, yes I have about that! Be good!) The World Loves YOU
MICHAEL: “The Lord’s people shall also enjoy light in the hour of death. Unbelief laments; the shadows fall, the night is coming, existence is ending. Ah no, crieth faith, the night is far spent, the true day is at hand. Light is come, the light of immortality, the light of a Father’s countenance. Gather up thy feet in thy bed and see the waiting bands of spirits! Angeles waft thee away. Farewell, beloved Michael, thou art gone, thou wavest thine hand. Ah, now it is light. The pearly gates are open and the golden streets shine in the jasper light. We cover our eyes, but thou beholdest the unseen, adieu, beloved Brother, thou hast light at even-tide, such as we have not yet.”
MICHAEL – THE INVINCIBLE
Dedicated to Michael’s Three Children
Lord, take a message to Michael
He was your special Angel,
Lord, my heart is in grief
I am in a state of unbelief!
Singing black and white on the Towers
O Michael! My eyes are raining showers,
Echoes of you singing in my head
Michael, you can’t be dead
You gave so much to humanity
Yet, others saw you with obscurity,
Michael, I am sorry for the strife
That imputed on your life
You are my blessing indeed
Though my heart continues to bleed,
Adieu, my beloved brother
I will see you when I cross the Jordan River
Man’s madness caused God’s heart to feel alone
And that is why he called you home,
So, continue to sing and dance unto the Lord
For you are in the presence of God!
