Usher's Wife Suffers Cardiac Arrest During Plastic Surgery

Last week, Usher's wife, Tameka Raymond, suffered a cardiac arrest while having plastic surgery in Brazil. And now, the Brazilian doctors involved in the debacle are talking to the press about what went wrong. Apparently, Tameka went into cardiac arrest while she was being anesthetized for liposuction surgery.

Thirty-eight-year-old Tameka flew to Brazil to have the surgery two months after giving birth to her first son with Usher. According to Ellen Dasptry, a rep for Sao Paulo plastic surgeon Dr. Silvio Sterman, she was scheduled to have lipo done on her stomach.

Dasptry told the People, "Tameka Raymond came here on Friday to do a liposuction. Shortly after she went under [general] anesthesia, she suffered a cardiac arrest."

After the cardiac arrest, Tameka was immediately revived and placed in a medically-induced coma. "When an attack like this happens, the doctors put the patient to sleep and make sure that everything is okay and that there has not been any damage. This is the protocol every time and this is what was done."

Reportedly, Tameka never received the surgery and has recovered.
