Mine That Bird is the long-shot winner of the 135th Kentucky Derby held Saturday, May 2nd at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The Derby featured a full lineup of 19 three-year-olds, after favorite I Want Revenge scratched this morning due to a weak left hoof, in the run for the roses and $2 million first prize.

The grandstands at Churchill Downs were full of hat-wearing spectators as the Win/Place/Show finishers crossed the line, completing first leg of the Triple Crown. The top three finishers for the 2009 Derby are Mine that Bird, Pioneerof the Nile and Musket Man.

Now that the most exciting two minutes in sports is over, it's time to bet on the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes in the Bodog Racebook. Get your odds now!

I don't ever watch horse racing but this was absolutely exciting as the trainer, owner, and jockey seemed like such humble people. They deserved to win. The other owner/trainer I was pulling for was the elderly gentleman with General Quarter, I think.

Always good to see a humble winner in the number ONE spot.

I have to say that it was absolutely amazing. I was so emotional and I could feel the love and joy from everyone that worked with this horse. Great job!!!

I really wanted Generals Quarters because of the story..i really wish i could see for once with this race that the owners, jockey etc give credit to the horse..i was tired of seeing this jockey just slap this horse and bounce up and down on him..and how it was all about him..maybe there was other footage that i missed that he said it was all about the horse..

rse better for some years now..i wonder what made or how did mind that bird win.now lets see he ran at sunland..umm a track not worth the fence cost at churchill downs.but did well at woodbine..is woodbine that slow of a track.he show no come from behind at all.no alot of speed.lets say he didnt win the kentucky derby…what was the time of the rest of the feild.horrible time.things dont add up.well let me add i hope all u bet on mind that bird for the preakness and that will help all the other horse odds go up.i will not bet on mind that bird.early speed will get him the preakness.email me at clintyboy2007@yahoo.com.someone explain y he won that race with a real reason.he was way out classed

With the exciting win at the Kentucky Derby, I believe it shows that horses are the most incredible and amazing animals ever. I could not even imagine life without those beautiful animals in it. Huge congratulations to the horse, owner, and jockey for an exciting and outstanding race. Best of Luck with future races.

The Derby was great,I hit the double,by wheeling Eistien in the tenth race.I fell strongly that the Bird could win the triple crowd.

Always make at least a small bet on the underdog, you never know what someone has in their back yard!

mine that bird was 50 lengths behind 10 seconds after the gate opened and still won by eight lengths and pulling away, now who do you think is going to win the preakness. the horse won that race not the jockey. I HOPE HE GOES OFF AT 40/1 BECAUSE SEEING IS CASHING.
