Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird is not getting respect in the Preakness Stakes, despite overcoming odds of 50-1 and continuing to improve every time he’s worked since the Derby. Mine That Bird will be getting odds of 6-1 but will be the third favorite on Saturday morning. Ahead of him is Kentucky Derby runner-up Pioneerof the Nile with odds of 5-1. The morning line favorite is super filly Rachel Alexandra, who has morning line odds of 8-5 to win the second jewel of the Triple Crown.

Also getting the same odds of 6-1 is the Kentucky Derby favorite, Vinery Stable’s Friesan Fire. Third-place Kentucky Derby finisher Musket Man will come in at 8-1, while Harold Queen’s Big Drama is next at 10-1. Completing the field are Papa Clem (12-1) General Quarters (20-1), Take the Points (30-1), Terrain (30-1), Luv Gov (50-1), Flying Private (50-1), and Tone It Down (50-1).

Congratulations to all those who touched that mare for the past 3 years plus. Also to the other riders and horses who fought vallantly to win.
Thank heavens for the internet as I missed the race on TV.
