Are you ready for the 140th running of the Belmont Stakes? If you're not, the official Belmont Stakes countdown has begun — so we've put together a quick Belmont guide for those of you who need a quick update on all the important deets.
Firstly, if you're throwing a Belmont party, Bodog has you covered. The Belmont Stakes post time is approximately 6:17 p.m. ET with a start time of approximately 6:30 p.m. ET. The Belmont is a 1.5 mile thoroughbred horse race for qualifying 3-year olds and the weight is a Colt/Gelding 126 lbs. and Filly is 121 lbs. The purse for the Belmont Stakes, which is termed the "Run for the Carnations" due to the blanket of white carnation flowers that are draped over the winner’s neck, is $1 million.
