How to Make a Kentucky Derby Mint Julep

Throwing a party this Derby Day? Here is a classic recipe that will enable you to have the best Mint Juleps in town!

Since 1938, the Mint Julep has been the traditional cocktail of the Kentucky Derby. Each year, horse enthusiasts throw back the Mint Juleps in honor of the Kentucky Derby. Really, there's nothing like watching your winning horse cross that finish line while sipping on a classic. This year, why not try a Mint Julep Bodog-style? Here's a classic recipe that's sure to get your head buzzing this Derby day.

Mint Julep Ingredients:

  • 2 Tsp of fine sugar
  • 2 ounces of bourbon (Maker's Mark is best!)
  • Crushed ice
  • 5 sprigs of mint

Instructions

  • Rub mint, place glass.
  • Add sugar
  • Add water
  • Stir
  • Add bourbon
  • Fill with ice
  • Garnish with mint
  • Enjoy
